About the role
The Economic Analyst I/II joins the Regional Analysis Group to translate data‑driven insights into monetary‑policy decisions that shape the nation’s economic future, with a focus on the Fourth District (Ohio, eastern Kentucky, western Pennsylvania, and the northern panhandle of West Virginia).
Key responsibilities
- Identify and answer open questions that matter to policymakers and the public.
- Design and execute innovative research methodologies to unpack complex economic questions.
- Wrangle diverse datasets to uncover hidden trends and relationships in regional and national economies.
- Conduct statistical and econometric analyses that meet rigorous academic and policy standards.
- Collaborate on research projects from conception through publication, increasing independence with experience.
- Provide critical insights on Fourth District economic conditions.
- Support the Bank president’s preparation for FOMC meetings with timely analysis.
- Contribute expert perspective to the nationally distributed Beige Book.
- Author and co‑author articles and reports that bring economic data to life.
- Craft presentations that make complex concepts accessible to diverse audiences.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in economics or related field (Bachelor’s with significant experience also considered).
- At least 5 years of experience conducting economic or policy research.
- Demonstrated expertise in one or more economic fields and familiarity with monetary policy.
- Strong communication skills with a proven record of publishing research or policy analysis.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, with intellectual curiosity and a proactive problem‑solving approach.
Required skills
- Proficiency with statistical and econometric techniques.
- Experience using analytical tools such as Stata, R, or Python.
- Ability to manage and analyze complex datasets.
- Exceptional writing ability to make technical content accessible.
