Dispatcher

About the role

Join 3M in Springfield, MO as a Dispatcher, supporting order processing and material movement across the plant. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure accurate data, timely shipments, and compliance with safety and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Support order processing activities, including allocation and de‑allocation of orders.
• Enter and maintain accurate data in operational systems such as Corporate Receipt, PMCS, OPRA, COMS, USS, and ELC.
• Operate labeling systems and produce labels or special markings for internal and external customers.
• Dispatch materials to and from off‑site storage locations.
• Prepare and submit shipping and production reports, including dry‑ice documentation.
• Coordinate with Packaging Engineering, Transportation, and Regulatory teams to resolve specification and shipping issues.
• Provide cross‑functional backup coverage within the dispatcher work group and Order Services team.
• Follow all 3M policies, safety procedures, and participate in continuous‑improvement initiatives (Six Sigma, Green, etc.).

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED (or higher).
• At least 1 year of experience in manufacturing, logistics, shipping, order processing, or a related operational role.
• Minimum 1 year of experience using computer‑based systems for data entry, order management, or inventory tracking.
• Strong attention to detail and effective communication skills.

Required skills

• Data entry in order management systems.
• Inventory tracking tools.
• Labeling system operation.
• Knowledge of Bill of Lading (BOL), LTL and FTL shipping processes.
• Familiarity with Six Sigma or other continuous‑improvement methodologies.
