About the role
The Department of Global Communications is seeking a Digital Communications Intern to support its Chinese Language Unit within the Social Media Section. The intern will work on‑site in New York, creating and managing Chinese‑language content across multiple social platforms while gaining exposure to UN outreach initiatives.
Key responsibilities
- Research, draft, and edit text, images, videos, and infographics for Chinese social media posts under tight deadlines.
- Monitor and analyze engagement metrics, audience analytics, and content performance across platforms.
- Capture highlights from UN events and develop tailored content for Weibo, Kuaishou, Bilibili, and other Chinese platforms.
- Edit short‑form and long‑form video content for various social channels.
- Attend meetings as an observer, manage agendas, and draft meeting notes.
- Support special projects as assigned.
Required profile
- Enrolled in or completed a graduate program, or in the final year of a bachelor’s degree.
- Fluency in Chinese (written and spoken) is essential.
- Strong interest in United Nations work and commitment to its Charter.
- Availability for a full‑time schedule of at least three months on‑site.
Required skills
- Proficiency with social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter, WeChat, Weibo, Tumblr, Flickr, YouTube, Kuaishou, Bilibili.
- Video editing for short‑form and long‑form content.
- Social media analytics and metric tracking.
- Content creation and adaptation for Chinese‑speaking audiences.
