Crossing Guard – Part‑time School Safety Officer

About the role

Under the supervision of the Crossing Guard Supervisor, you will ensure safe street crossings for children attending school in Draper. This part‑time position works twice daily during school travel times.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare crossing zones by activating 20 MPH flashing lights and placing warning cones.
• Assist children across the street, monitor traffic closely, and stop vehicles when necessary.
• Remove cones and deactivate flashing lights after each crossing.
• Arrive on time and be ready to assist at the designated crossing zone.
• Respond quickly and accurately to emergency safety situations.
• Participate in special events as requested by the Draper Police Department and perform other related duties as assigned.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid Utah driver license.
• Related experience preferred.
• Ability to work outdoors in varied weather and lift up to 50 pounds.

Required skills

• Knowledge of current Utah traffic laws.
• Knowledge of emergency procedures related to traffic control.
• Accurate judgment of traffic flow, speed, and direction.
• Effective verbal and written communication in English.
