Communications Specialist II – Veterinary Medicine

About the role

The Communications Specialist II supports the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences by creating and managing content that advances the college’s strategic goals. Working under general supervision, the specialist oversees social media, digital signage, and a variety of communication channels to reach internal and external audiences.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and grow the college’s social media channels (@tamuvetmed, @tamuvetmedVERO) across platforms, monitor metrics and engage with audiences.
• Create and edit website content, news stories, feature articles, brochures, magazines and other collateral for internal and external audiences.
• Produce digital signage, develop templates and run digital advertising campaigns for various VMBS departments.
• Support email marketing, draft and edit electronic newsletters, and analyze campaign performance.
• Generate reports on social media and email analytics, providing recommendations for improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least two years of professional communications or marketing experience.
• Professional writing ability and strong attention to detail.

Required skills

• Social media management and analytics.
• Content management systems (CMS).
• Video and image editing for short‑form content.
• Digital signage creation and template design.
• Email marketing platforms (e.g., EMMA) and newsletter production.
• Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet applications.
