Cloud Software Engineer – Observability Platform

About the role

ClickHouse is seeking an experienced engineer to join its Observability organization, working on both the Observability Platform and Internal Observability teams. You will design, build, and operate large‑scale telemetry systems that process trillions of events daily.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate distributed systems for high‑scale telemetry ingestion, processing, and storage.
• Own reliability, performance, capacity, and cost‑efficiency of telemetry pipelines.
• Participate in on‑call rotation, resolve production incidents, and drive root‑cause fixes.
• Develop software and automation to eliminate repetitive operational work.
• Identify architectural bottlenecks and influence the roadmap for future scaling.
• Collaborate with product, infrastructure, and service teams across ClickHouse.
• Contribute to architecture and design reviews, raising engineering quality.

Required profile

• Take ownership and proactively improve systems.
• Comfortable debugging unfamiliar distributed systems in production.
• Make pragmatic trade‑offs between reliability, performance, speed, and cost.
• Communicate clearly in a remote, async‑friendly environment.
• Prefer incremental delivery: ship focused solutions, validate in production, and iterate.
• Address underlying causes of operational problems rather than treating symptoms.

Required skills

• 5+ years building and operating production systems at scale.
• Strong proficiency in Go.
• Experience with Kubernetes.
• Infrastructure‑as‑code and GitOps tools such as Terraform, Helm, and Argo CD.
• Production experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Hands‑on with telemetry technologies like OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, and Grafana.
