About the role
At Davis, Bowen & Friedel, Inc. (DBF), designers play a vital supporting role in creating infrastructure that enhances, maintains, and protects communities. This full‑time, on‑site position seeks a self‑motivated civil designer who will review technical drawings, assist in preparing construction documents, and apply knowledge of stormwater, water, wastewater, and roadway design while complying with local, state, and federal regulations.
Key responsibilities
- Utilize design software and computer‑aided drafting tools to plan, design, and permit municipal and public‑works projects, including water supply, treatment, distribution, storage, sanitary sewer, roadway, streetscape, drainage studies, and stormwater management.
- Perform civil design analysis and calculations according to project requirements.
- Prepare correspondence, cost estimates, and bid documents for clients.
- Conduct field activities such as observing existing conditions and taking verification measurements.
- Incorporate survey data, project documentation, and jurisdiction codes into designs and modify them based on feedback.
Required profile
- At least a two‑year degree in civil engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of two years of experience preparing construction details and drawings.
- Detail‑oriented with strong client focus.
- Effective communicator and critical thinker able to solve problems in a fast‑paced environment.
