Chief Advancement Officer – Lead Fundraising & Alumni Relations

About the role

The Chief Advancement Officer leads the strategy and execution of fundraising, alumni engagement, and donor stewardship for East Central University and the ECU Foundation. Reporting to the CEO and COO, this senior leader drives revenue growth and enhances the university’s visibility across diverse stakeholder groups.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement an annual strategic advancement plan in partnership with the CEO and COO.
• Manage a portfolio of 75‑100 constituents, including alumni, donors, foundations, and corporate partners.
• Lead all major fundraising campaigns, events, and initiatives, coordinating with the Office of Alumni Relations and Marketing staff.
• Set goals, monitor performance, and report on advancement staff activities and outcomes.
• Provide stewardship training, support faculty fundraising efforts, and serve as relationship manager for the President’s top prospects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree preferred with 3‑5 years of fundraising or sales experience.
• Proven track record of securing major gifts from diverse sources and leading teams to exceed fundraising targets.
• Strong collaborative and communication abilities to engage internal and external audiences.
• Willingness to travel nights and weekends as needed and maintain high confidentiality.
