Backend Engineer Intern

About the role

Cadent is looking for a Backend Engineer Intern to join its technology team for the Summer 2026 term. You will work on real backend systems, contribute to production‑ready features, and gain hands‑on experience with APIs, databases, and cloud services.

Key responsibilities

• Attend team meetings and collaborate on active initiatives.
• Conduct technical research and support supervisors on backend tasks.
• Use department‑specific tools and software for day‑to‑day development.
• Develop and deliver 1–2 end‑to‑end backend features or enhancements.
• Write, test, and modify production‑ready API code.

Required profile

• Rising junior or senior pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Strong programming fundamentals in at least one object‑oriented language.
• Understanding of HTTP, REST concepts, and relational databases.
• Ability to debug backend logic and reason through problems.
• Experience building projects beyond coursework.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
