Automation Product Manager

About the role

The Automation Product Manager will penetrate the market within SunSource’s Industrial Business Unit, driving sales, gross margin, and strategic initiatives for the Automation product lines while providing technical assistance to field Account Managers.

Key responsibilities

• Interface and coordinate with suppliers and manage product‑supplier relationships.
• Assess customer needs, specify products, and prepare proposals, presentations, and quotations.
• Determine costs, service customers by phone and on‑site, and develop technical drawings.
• Work with PLC/Software platforms, including Codesys and I/O Link technologies.
• Evaluate industry trends and new technologies to keep the portfolio competitive.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
• 2+ years experience in a technical role for automation systems, preferably with a distributor.
• Hands‑on knowledge of design, manufacture, and integration of automated manufacturing, material handling, assembly, and test equipment.
• Ability to create cost‑effective solutions that meet customer requirements.
• Proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel, AutoCAD, and PLC programming/troubleshooting.
