Automation Technical Specialist

About the role

The Automation Technical Specialist will penetrate the market within the Industrial Business Unit and achieve established goals in terms of sales, gross margin generation, and specific company initiatives within the Automation product lines. The role also provides technical assistance to field Account Managers.

Key responsibilities

• Strong understanding of automation controls and software.
• Assess customer needs, specify products, and prepare proposals, presentations, and quotations.
• Determine costs and service customers via telephone and on‑site visits.
• Develop technical drawings and PLC/software solutions (Codesys, I/O Link).
• Manage product and supplier relationships.
• Evaluate industry trends and new technology.

Required profile

• BS in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering or equivalent (preferred).
• 2+ years experience as a Field Sales Engineer for automation systems, preferably with a distributor.
• Knowledge of design, manufacture, and integration of automated manufacturing, material handling, assembly, and test equipment.
• Ability to develop creative, cost‑effective solutions to meet customer needs.
• Proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel, AutoCAD, and PLC programming/troubleshooting.
