About the role
The School of Journalism and Strategic Media at the University of Arkansas invites applications for a tenure‑track Assistant Professor of Social and Digital Media in Journalism, beginning August 2027. This nine‑month, in‑person appointment focuses on teaching, research, and service in the evolving landscape of digital journalism.
Key responsibilities
- Teach a 2‑2 load, including existing courses on social and digital media and develop new courses aligned with the candidate’s expertise.
- Maintain an active research agenda in areas such as digital platforms, audience engagement, algorithms, AI, misinformation, and the cultural impact of media.
- Contribute to departmental service, including advising students, participating in committees, and supporting the Democracy as a Public Good cluster initiative.
Required profile
- Terminal degree in journalism or a related media field by the start date.
- At least two years of professional, research, or relevant experience in digital journalism, social media, or public relations.
- Evidence of an active or potential research agenda related to social or digital media.
- Preferred: five or more years of professional experience in digital and social journalism or strategic media.
