Assistant Director – Space Institute (Houston)

About the role

The Texas A&M Space Institute in Houston is seeking an Assistant Director to lead daily operations, support tenant needs, and drive programmatic initiatives. Reporting to the Director and Associate Director, this role serves as the primary on‑site representative, ensuring alignment with Texas A&M leadership in College Station.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and execute operational and program activities that align with the Institute’s strategic priorities.
• Act as the on‑site leader in Houston, representing Institute leadership in meetings, initiatives, and decision‑making.
• Build and sustain relationships with tenants, NASA, government agencies, and industry partners.
• Support partnership development, tenant ecosystem growth, and engagement with external collaborators.
• Assist the Director and Associate Director in implementing strategic initiatives and managing large‑scale projects.

Required profile

• Proactive, hands‑on leader with extensive experience in space research administration.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work across university, government, and industry stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex operational processes and support a diverse tenant community.
