Yard Driver (Non-CDL)

About the role

The Home Depot is hiring a Yard Driver (non-CDL) in McCalla, Alabama. The driver keeps the yard organized and safely spots trailers at dock doors and throughout the yard, while updating trailer moves and yard activity on a handheld device. The position reports to the Operations Manager and has no direct reports.

Key responsibilities

• Spot trailers safely at dock doors and yard locations, driving yard trucks to designated spots (about 80% of the role)
• Perform general warehouse tasks as needed (about 10%)
• Conduct yard auditing using the Yard Management System to ensure yard accuracy (about 10%)
• Update trailer moves and yard activity on a handheld device

Required profile

• Legally permitted to work in the United States
• At least 21 years old
• Valid, active driver's license
• Able to load and unload heavy items
• High school diploma or GED
• No travel required

Working conditions

• Intermittent periods of continuous physical exertion, including walking, standing, stooping, climbing and lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward
• Regular exposure to temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noise and fumes
