Workers Compensation Claims Examiner (NY Jurisdiction)

About the role

Sedgwick is hiring a Workers Compensation Claims Examiner in Syracuse, NY to analyze New York lost-time workers' compensation claims on behalf of its clients. The goal is to determine benefits due while keeping claims adjudication within service expectations, industry best practices and client requirements. The position is hybrid: 2 days in the office and 3 days working from home, on a 37.5-hour week, and is open to remote candidates outside the commutable distance to the Syracuse office.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze and process claims through well-developed action plans to a timely resolution, investigating and gathering information to determine the exposure on the claim.
• Negotiate settlement of claims within designated authority.
• Communicate claim activity and processing with the claimant and the client.
• Report claims to the excess carrier and respond to requests for direction in a professional and timely manner.

Required profile

• 2 years of claims management experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
• Professional certification applicable to the line of business preferred.
• New York licensing required.
