Workers Compensation Authorization & Verification Specialist

About the role

Ivy Health is hiring a Workers Compensation (WC) Authorization and Verification Specialist, reporting to the WC Authorization and Verification Team Lead. The role works with front office teammates and external authorization and verification vendors to run authorization and verification processes efficiently, minimize lost revenue and improve reimbursement speed. It is a remote position open Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm EST.

Key responsibilities

• Submit authorization requests on time in the EMR, following payer and state guidelines
• Work with front desk and centralized scheduling teammates so accurate documentation is completed and uploaded
• Respond to authorization and verification queries from teammates and WC payers, and address denials with denial prevention feedback to the team lead
• Verify same-day or walk-in patients by calling insurers, faxing or using online portals to get outpatient therapy benefits, eligibility and authorization
• Request, follow up and secure authorizations before and during treatment episodes for WC patients
• Help train new and existing teammates and maintain relationships with vendors to standardize workflows
• Run EMR or BI reports on maximum benefits, missing authorizations and other priorities, and attend department meetings

Required profile

• 2-3 years of experience in pre-auth verification; experience with authorizations, referral coordination and patient services preferred
• Preferred: experience with Workers Compensation insurance in the therapy arena
• Customer service experience, multitasking and ability to work under pressure
• Self-motivated and able to focus in a remote position

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft applications
• Ability to use standard office equipment such as copiers and fax machines
• Effective written and verbal communication
