Wellness Nurse

About the role

Experience Senior Living is looking for a Wellness Nurse to join its team in Akron. The nurse works full time, either 7am-3pm or 3pm-11pm, and acts as the Charge Nurse when the Executive Director and Director of Health & Wellness are absent. The role covers medication management, care coordination, documentation and emergency response.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as Charge Nurse in the absence of the Executive Director and Director of Health & Wellness
• Contribute to medication management: orders, administration, storage, documentation, in line with state regulations, company policy and procedures
• Keep resident rooms and common areas clean and safe
• Maintain care partners and medication assistants' knowledge of each resident's condition and train them to deliver care professionally and sensitively
• Assist residents with self-medication or medication administration
• Document daily nursing recommendations and implement plans of care and change-of-condition plans recommended by the Resident Wellness Director
• Complete resident charting in the electronic health record, assessments, accident and incident reports, and maintain positive relationships with residents, families and responsible parties
• Manage emergency situations such as disasters and fires, and ensure adequately trained care partners are available each shift

Required profile

• Licensed Vocational Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse license (LVN/LPN preferred)
• Two years of experience in a senior living environment preferred
• Basic First Aid and CPR certification
• Ability to work varied schedules including weekends, evenings and holidays

• Effective communication with residents, families, vendors, referral sources and leadership
• Strong organizational skills and ability to make independent decisions
• Ability to read and interpret complex information and adapt quickly to changing demands
• Neat appearance and adherence to dress code
