Well Control Instructor

About the role
Maersk is seeking an experienced drilling professional to join its training team in Houma, Louisiana. As a Well Control Instructor you will deliver IADC‑accredited well control courses, operate advanced simulators, and help shape a safety‑focused culture for the Gulf Coast region.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver IADC accredited well control training (Levels 2–4) in classroom and simulator environments.
- Assist in delivering Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) and Drilling Practices courses.
- Ensure all training complies with IADC standards and internal requirements.
- Assess trainee competency through practical and theoretical exams and provide constructive feedback.
- Review and update training materials based on learner needs, operational changes, or industry standards.
- Collaborate with Operations, HSE, and commercial teams to align training with customer and regulatory requirements.
- Support simulator facilities during courses, including software updates and vendor troubleshooting.
- Maintain instructor accreditation and stay current with drilling technologies and regulations.
Required profile
- IADC Well Sharp accreditation for Levels 1–4 (required).
- 5–7 years of operational drilling experience with strong well construction and well control knowledge.
- Proven experience delivering technical training in classroom and simulator settings.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills for diverse trainee groups.
- Fluent English; Spanish is a plus.
- Willingness to travel to Houston, Texas (~10% of time).
