Welder / Fabricator

About the role

Full Circle Recruiting is seeking an experienced Welder / Fabricator for an immediate opportunity in Conroe, Texas. The welder fits, assembles and welds metal components according to engineering drawings, blueprints, weld symbols and production specifications, producing consistent, high-quality welds while maintaining safety, quality and production standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform MIG and TIG welding on metal components and fabricated assemblies.
• Set up and adjust welding machines according to material type, thickness and requirements.
• Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, weld symbols and work instructions.
• Fit, align, tack and weld components to specified dimensions and tolerances, in flat, horizontal, vertical and overhead positions.
• Prepare materials by cutting, grinding, cleaning, beveling and fitting before welding.
• Inspect welds for defects, penetration, dimensions and workmanship, and use measuring tools to verify finished parts.
• Operate grinders, cutting equipment, torches and other fabrication tools, and rework defects when needed.
• Follow production drawings, job travelers, work orders and quality requirements, and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
• Maintain welding equipment, report problems or unsafe conditions, and follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of professional welding experience; strong hands-on MIG welding experience.
• TIG welding experience strongly preferred.
• Experience in a manufacturing, fabrication or industrial environment.
• Ability to read blueprints, welding symbols and fabrication drawings, and to set welding parameters for different materials and thicknesses.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, with strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Dependable, able to work in a production environment, and able to stand, bend, kneel and lift materials safely.

Required skills

• MIG welding (required); TIG welding (strongly preferred)
• Joint preparation, fit-up and metal fabrication
• Use of grinders, saws, torches, clamps, fixtures and measuring tools
• Identification of weld defects and determination of when rework is needed

Preferred: welding certification or vocational training, experience with carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminum, knowledge of AWS standards, and previous custom metal fabrication or industrial equipment manufacturing experience.
