Weld Specialist - Manchester Tank, Quincy

About the role

Manchester Tank, part of McWane, is hiring a full-time Weld Specialist in Quincy. The role involves reading and interpreting blueprints and welding specifications, setting up machines, positioning and welding components to build tanks and pressure vessels, and performing quality inspections. The company describes itself as having a 75-year history of manufacturing high-quality products.

Key responsibilities

• Read, interpret and follow blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, weld symbols and written procedures to make equipment and products.
• Set up operational parameters on the machine, position and align components using advanced circular welding techniques, and weld fabricated, cast and stamped parts to assemble tanks and pressure vessels.
• Perform first inspections before production runs and monitor product quality, looking for visual and structural defects with gauges and inspection criteria.
• Use handheld tools such as screw guns, drill guns and grinders, and operate calipers, weld gauges, tape measures and lifting devices as needed.
• Follow EHS guidelines, report unsafe conditions promptly, and shut down the process if unsafe.
• Contribute to safety, environmental, process and improvement efforts.

Required profile

• Dependable, self-motivated, with good oral and written communication and analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Knowledge of safety procedures in a manufacturing environment.
• Must pass the Manchester Tank & Equipment Weld Specialist certification requirements and complete required in-house training.
