Weekend Caregiver (CNA/HCA) – Bellingham

About the role

Journey Nursing Services is seeking Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) and Home Care Aides (HCA) to provide weekend care in Bellingham, WA and surrounding areas. The role involves hands‑on patient care in homes, facilities, or adult family homes.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care, including ADLs such as grooming, bathing, feeding, toileting, and mobility assistance.
• Monitor and report changes in patient condition, take vital signs, record weights, and apply prescribed creams or ointments.
• Follow individualized care plans, promote skin integrity, and ensure safety and infection‑control procedures are followed.
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, and the care team while maintaining respect for personal property.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• CNA or HCA license valid in Washington State (training can be completed on‑site).
• Good standing with Washington DSHS Background Check System and ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license with insurance if providing client transport.

Required skills

• Ability to perform ADL assistance and basic patient care tasks.
• Competence in taking vital signs and documenting patient information.
• Understanding of safety, infection‑control, and proper body‑mechanics for lifting up to 50 lb.
