Warehouse Operator - Chemical Products

About the role

Brenntag is hiring a Warehouse Operator in Des Moines to handle liquid and dry chemical products safely and accurately. The role covers loading and unloading trucks, tankers and railcars, operating forklifts, repackaging and labeling materials, and keeping precise inventory records. It is a physically active position in a fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, unload and prepare, then load liquid and dry chemical products from/to trucks, tankers and railcars, including inspecting vehicles, sampling and quality control, and maintaining receiving and shipping logs
• Pick and stage product for delivery according to customer orders
• Operate powered and manual forklifts (certified) and move raw materials to production and finished goods to the warehouse
• Repackage product into cylinders, drums, totes, pails or tankers with proper labelling, stacking and palletising, with extra care for food-grade and USP items
• Store hazardous waste drums in compliance with regulations and protect property from theft or damage
• Check stored product for deterioration, rearrange material and assist in physical inventory counts
• Keep the warehouse clean, safe and accessible, report spills immediately and mix and blend as required

Required profile

• High school diploma, GED or US military experience; candidates with 2+ years of chemical operations experience may be considered
• Forklift operator certification or ability to pass the exam
• Ability to read and follow detailed instructions in English and to do basic math in all units of measure
• Able to stand and walk most of the day, climb ladders and work outdoors in variable weather
• Available for any day of the week, 8-12 hour shifts, overtime and weekends; good safety and attendance record
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen, background check and E-verify; must be able to get a TWIC card for MTSA sites

• Operating standing and sit-down forklifts, pallet jacks and drum pickers
