VP, Sustainability - Performance Acceleration

About the role

Acre is recruiting a VP, Sustainability - Performance Acceleration for Mars, a global leader in snacking, pet care and food, based in McLean, Virginia, on a hybrid basis. The role shapes how sustainability is embedded across the enterprise, accelerating progress against Mars's Sustainable in a Generation Plan, which includes Net Zero emissions, a circular packaging portfolio and better conditions for farmers and workers. Climate is central, with a focus on carbon and energy, and the position reports into the corporate center.

Key responsibilities

• Develop strategies to accelerate performance, working with sustainability and business leaders, and identify 3-5 major transformations
• Lead selected transformation initiatives, such as leadership incentives, associate capability and embedding sustainability in business processes and functions
• Sustain and develop the data and systems architecture behind governance and planning through Sustainability Mission Control (SMC), meeting audit and assurance needs
• Sponsor sustainability in the Mars Digital Core and cPLM projects, and chair the Methodology Restatement Group (MRG)
• Run shared service programs such as the renewables program for direct operations and supply chain (Renewables Acceleration) and the Impact Factor Factory
• Lead an engaged Performance Acceleration team with a strong talent strategy
• Serve as a thought leader on the Mars Sustainability Steering Group and engage externally with peers and coalitions
• Lead a team covering Digital Core, Sustainability Mission Program, Renewables and Transformation Programs

Required profile

• Deep experience leading key areas of sustainability and a demonstrated aptitude to learn new areas
• Experience integrating sustainability into business strategy within Mars or comparable companies
• Strong line management and team leadership experience
• Preferred: experience influencing without authority, partnering with external coalitions, and working across diverse business types and regions
