Virtual Systems Engineer

About the role

CACI is hiring a Virtual Systems Engineer in Dahlgren, Virginia, a full-time, regular position requiring a minimum Secret-level security clearance. The role applies engineering skills to the technical planning, systems integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability analyses of complex solutions, covering concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. It is an entry-level position with no prior work experience required.

Key responsibilities

• Create and maintain components of a virtual system.
• Troubleshoot, resolve and document problems in the virtual system, including verifying proper operation and optimizing the virtualized environment and load cycling process.
• Write and maintain Bash, PowerShell and Python scripts to automate load cycling, configuration and routine tasks.
• Provide input and review documentation for the applicant's area of responsibility, and write and submit new procedures for review.
• Develop tools to gain insight into virtual system operation and performance, and to improve provisioning of virtualized systems.
• Support startup and shutdown of development and deployed systems, and support delivery, installation, configuration and light-off of the virtual system.
• Report status at internal and customer meetings.

Required profile

• BS or equivalent in Computer Science, Mathematics or Engineering; entry-level, no prior work experience required.
• Secret-level security clearance (US citizenship required to obtain a DoD clearance).

Required skills

• Proficiency with Linux operating systems.
• Desired: working knowledge of Aegis Combat/Weapon Systems, Bash/csh/PowerShell/Python scripting, software-defined networking (VMware NSX, Cisco ACI), Red Hat Enterprise Linux, virtual machine platforms (VMware ESXi/vCenter, KVM/QEMU), Cisco IOS/NX-OS, and Ansible, Terraform and YAML.
