Mid Level Software Developer, Hypervelocity/C++

About the role

Amentum is seeking software engineers with a computer science or related educational background and/or equivalent experience to support software system engineering for Naval projects at Dahlgren, Virginia. The work is on-site in Dahlgren, where the company has supported its customer for over 50 years. Candidates will join a growing systems and software engineering team and work on weapons and sensor systems, applying their skills to modernize the Navy.

Key responsibilities

• Provide software and engineering solutions and develop systems using Agile development principles.
• Perform analysis and problem-solving in support of professional scientific and engineering work.
• Work independently and with others in established teams to meet goals within schedule-driven timelines.
• Communicate directly with customers and engineering personnel.

Required profile

• BS degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Aerospace Engineering or another engineering field, or equivalent experience.
• Valid Real ID driver's license and reliable transportation, as occasional travel between local worksites is required.
• Active SECRET US Government clearance (US citizenship is required).
• At least 3 years of C++ experience.

Required skills

• C++ (preferred: also Python and Java)
• Windows and Red Hat Linux operating systems
• Environment: VS Code
• Preferred: familiarity with podman/docker, JFrog, JUnit, Jenkins, Git/GitLab, Visual Studio, VMware, JIRA, Bitbucket, Confluence, and Agile methods such as Scrum or LeSS
