Vice President (Mechanical) - HVAC Design

About the role

Allen + Shariff is an international MEP engineering firm offering consulting and design services in the United States and Mexico and project management in the Middle East. It is seeking a Vice President with strong hands-on knowledge of HVAC design to co-lead its Chicago, Illinois office. The role provides technical expertise to the office within the mechanical discipline and shares responsibility for achieving key company objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Work with the Corporate Management Team to set and implement company goals, direction and policy, and communicate them to the local team
• Improve staff technical capability and production efficiency through mentorship, coaching and growth opportunities
• Maintain and improve quality control procedures for mechanical and plumbing designs
• Build relationships with current and prospective clients and strategize with business development staff on proposals and negotiations
• Develop, evaluate and track project goals, ensuring projects finish on time, on budget and to the highest quality, and debrief project performance with the team
• Keep the office properly staffed, assign workloads appropriately and evaluate team member performance
• Provide technical expertise on a variety of HVAC systems

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a mechanical focus
• Minimum 15 years of experience in the HVAC design field
• PE registration required
• In-depth understanding of mechanical and plumbing systems, including relevant codes and LEED requirements
• Proven leadership, problem-solving, teamwork and communication skills

Required skills

• CAD required; Revit preferred
• HVAC design and mechanical systems
