Project Engineer 1 - College Graduates (Fall 2026 / Spring 2027)

About the role

F.H. Paschen, a construction company with over 115 years of experience, is hiring a Project Engineer 1 in Chicago for college graduates who will start in January 2026 after graduating in December 2025. The Project Engineer is a key member of the project team that manages construction projects.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate material procurement and delivery
• Produce project schedules
• Review and determine the suitability of shop drawings and submittals
• Quote and qualify subcontractor requests for change orders and track the status of change orders and Requests for Information
• Collect, verify and distribute as-built drawings and maintain project close-out documents
• Assist with field supervision, blueprint reading and quantity take-offs
• Handle sub-contractor solicitations and coordination, and quality control
• Other duties as assigned

Required profile

• 4-year degree in Engineering, Construction, Architecture or Business
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Prior internship experience is a plus

Required skills

• Knowledge of construction technology such as Blue Beam, Revit and Procore
• Experience with spreadsheet, word processing and scheduling software is preferred
