Vice President, Human Resources

About the role

Bitwarden is seeking a Vice President of Human Resources to lead its people infrastructure during a period of rapid growth. Reporting to the CFO, this senior leader will own the full employee lifecycle—from talent acquisition to performance management, total rewards, and culture—while operating in an all‑remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Build, manage, and develop the HR team, setting clear goals and operating rhythms.
• Act as a player‑coach, handling hands‑on work across all HR disciplines while mentoring team members.
• Partner with Finance to manage the HR budget, headcount, systems, and program spend.
• Serve as the primary escalation point for complex employee‑relations matters, advising managers on performance issues, disciplinary actions, and involuntary separations.
• Collaborate with Legal on high‑risk matters that may involve litigation or regulatory exposure.
• Implement a scalable performance review process tied to company objectives and drive employee engagement initiatives.
• Design and execute a recruiting engine to support headcount growth, manage relationships with search firms, and develop employer branding.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading HR functions in fast‑growing organizations.
• Ability to balance strategic vision with hands‑on execution.
• Strong partnership skills with Finance, Legal, and senior leadership.
• Located in the United States, preferably in the Eastern time zone; no visa sponsorship available.
