Vice President, Facilities Operations & Planning

About the role

The Vice President, Facilities Operations & Planning leads the University of Miami’s real‑estate strategy, campus development, and facilities management. This senior executive oversees acquisition, disposition, design, construction, and maintenance of all university‑owned properties while ensuring compliance, cost‑effectiveness, and alignment with the institution’s mission.

Key responsibilities

• Market, acquire, dispose of, and manage university‑owned properties, including strategic purchases and lease administration across all campuses.
• Lead special real‑estate projects, conducting due diligence, market valuation, and developing pricing and marketing strategies for land sales, lease‑vs‑buy analyses, and offer structuring.
• Negotiate contracts for leases, sales, purchases, and disposition of donated assets.
• Develop master plans, oversee zoning and land‑use regulations, and manage design and construction of new facilities as well as ongoing maintenance of the UHealth/MSOM campus.
• Direct infrastructure maintenance for utilities such as chilled water, sewer, storm drainage, and oversee campus parking, transportation, and commuter relations.
