Forensic Structural Engineer, P.E.

About the role

EFI Global, a full-service engineering, fire investigation, environmental, health and safety and specialty consulting firm, is hiring a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in South Florida to specialize in forensic engineering, structural damage assessment and failure analysis across commercial, residential and industrial buildings. The preferred candidate lives in the greater Miami or Fort Lauderdale area.

Key responsibilities

• Survey losses and loss scenes at residential and commercial buildings
• Investigate and document the scope of damage and the origin of failure for insurers and litigation support
• Analyze and document failure analysis and causation
• Collaborate with Fire Investigators to produce detailed reports on the cause and origin of losses
• Serve as an expert witness in court and/or depositions
• Document and maintain billable hours on a time and expense basis for forensic engineering projects
• Collaborate with EFI's national team of forensic experts on projects

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
• Professional Engineering (PE) license in Florida
• Six years of experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education
• Hands-on experience in structural failure causes, storm and roof damage assessments, building envelope investigations and structural collapse evaluations
• Ability to stand, walk, kneel, squat, bend, climb, carry up to 50 pounds and pull up to 100 pounds, and to drive up to 4 hours per day
