Veterinary Technician (Levels 1-3) – Shared Services

About the role

The Veterinary Teaching Hospital seeks Veterinary Technicians at three competency levels to provide technical support across multiple specialty services, ensuring continuous patient care and operational readiness.

Key responsibilities

• Provide patient restraint, specimen collection, diagnostic test coordination, and operate specialized equipment across services such as Dermatology, Cardiology, Oncology, and Emergency Care.
• Assist with nursing care and technical support in the Small Animal Intensive Care Unit and Small Animal Emergency & Critical Care, including intake, triage, stabilization, documentation, and discharge coordination.
• Maintain hospital hygiene, bio‑security, and readiness; communicate with clients, referring veterinarians, and internal staff to ensure seamless care transitions.
• Participate in on‑call blood bank duties, holiday shifts, and emergency coverage as needed.

Required profile

• Active registration with the Louisiana Board of Veterinary Medicine as a Registered Veterinary Technician.
• For VT1: associate’s or bachelor’s degree in veterinary technology; no experience required.
• For VT2: associate’s or bachelor’s degree plus two years of related experience.
• For VT3: associate’s or bachelor’s degree plus three years of related experience and ability to teach technical skills.
