Veterinary Technician – Large Animal (Level 1-3)

About the role

The Large Animal Hospital operates 24/7, providing care for livestock and equine patients. This position supports faculty, house officers, and veterinary students by delivering technical veterinary services and ensuring safe animal handling.

Key responsibilities

• Perform day‑to‑day operations of the equine hospital under senior staff supervision.
• Assist clinicians, house officers, and students with appointments, emergencies, procedures, and inpatient treatments.
• Conduct hourly inpatient checks, load/unload and admit patients, and set up/clean treatment areas.
• Maintain client interactions with professionalism and confidentiality.
• Update medical records, track charges for in‑ and out‑patients, and ensure biosecurity and infection‑control protocols.
• Teach and mentor veterinary and technician students on safe livestock handling.
• Collect blood from equine donors and support emergency and weekend coverage.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in veterinary technology, CVT, or equivalent, or at least three years of relevant experience.
• Preferred credentials: RVT, LVT, or other licensed veterinary technician certifications.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including holidays, weekends, and on‑call emergencies.
