Veterinary Technician – Anesthesia (Levels 1-3)

About the role

This position provides anesthesia and anesthetic support across all clinical service areas of the Veterinary Medicine department, including small and large animal services. The technician will assist faculty, house officers, and students with anesthetic procedures while ensuring patient safety and fostering a learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and monitor patients before, during, and after anesthesia for small and large animal cases.
• Assist with placement and maintenance of peripheral IV, central venous, and arterial catheters.
• Perform endotracheal intubation, verify placement, and manage airway complications.
• Provide technical support for epidural injections, regional nerve blocks, and other anesthesia‑related procedures.
• Maintain and clean anesthesia equipment, ensuring quality control and compliance with hospital protocols.
• Support faculty and students by delivering instruction on anesthesia techniques, patient monitoring, and safe animal handling.

Required profile

• Veterinary Technician certification at level 1, 2, or 3.
• Experience handling and restraining small animals safely.
• Ability to teach and guide veterinary students in clinical anesthesia.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe and effective clinical learning environment.
