Veterinary Technician – Anesthesia (Level 1, 2, or 3)

About the role

This position provides anesthesia and anesthetic support across all clinical service areas of the Veterinary Medicine department, including small and large animal services. The technician will assist faculty, house officers, and students with anesthetic procedures while ensuring patient safety and compliance with hospital protocols.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and monitor patients before, during, and after anesthesia.
• Assist with placement and maintenance of peripheral IV, central venous, and arterial catheters.
• Support endotracheal intubation, verify tube placement, and manage airway complications.
• Provide technical assistance for epidural injections, regional nerve blocks, and other anesthesia-related procedures.
• Maintain and clean anesthesia equipment, perform quality control, and ensure safe work areas.
• Assist with day‑to‑day operations of the Anesthesia Service, including emergency cases.
• Teach veterinary and technician students proper anesthesia techniques and animal handling.
