Utility Operator I

About the role

The City of Cedar Park is seeking a Utility Operator I to join its Water Distribution team. This full‑time, onsite position involves maintaining and repairing water and sewer infrastructure to ensure reliable service for residents.

Key responsibilities

• Install water and sewer taps for new services.
• Repair leaks using backhoes, trenching equipment, and shoring.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on lines, including hydrojet cleaning, router use, valve replacement, and lift‑station pump repairs.
• Conduct utility line locates and leak‑site dress‑ups.
• Run new main feeders and service lines, read and maintain flow meters, water interconnects, and gauges.
• Maintain grounds at field operations sites, lift stations, booster stations, and plants.
• Perform chlorine testing on new lines and operate valve‑turning equipment.
• Maintain fire hydrants and air‑release valves.

• Willingness to enter confined spaces and perform physical labor.
