Usher - Pensacola Saenger Theatre

About the role

The Usher works onsite at the Pensacola Saenger Theatre in Pensacola, Florida, within the Event Services department. The role reports to the FOH Coordinator or designee and is part-time, hourly and non-exempt, with shifts that may include days, nights, weekdays, weekends and holidays.

Key responsibilities

• Greet guests and check their tickets as they enter the seating and other areas of the facility.
• Direct guests to their ticketed seats and to services such as restrooms, concessions, first aid and other event-specific locations.
• Ensure only guests with the proper ticket sit in their assigned section.
• Answer guest questions about the event and facility, handle complaints and disturbances, and forward them to the supervisor or House Manager.
• Make sure guests follow venue and event policies and the code of conduct.
• Keep aisles, concourses and stairs clear during the event and monitor the area for spills or situations needing attention.
• Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Ability to work in a team environment with multiple departments.
• Ability to see and read small text on paper and electronic tickets.

Required skills

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a personable, proactive attitude toward guests.
• Clear spoken and written English.
• Physical ability to stand and walk for long periods, climb stairs and work in a darkened theatre, around crowds and near loud noises and flashing lights.
