US Tax Accountant (Remote)

About the role

A boutique accounting and advisory firm serving small and mid-sized businesses is looking for an experienced accounting professional to join its team remotely. The firm offers bookkeeping and accounting, tax preparation and compliance, fractional CFO services, and M&A and financial advisory. The role combines client accounting, tax support and team leadership, with a pay of up to $2,500.

Key responsibilities

• Manage bookkeeping for multiple client accounts, perform monthly reconciliations and close processes, prepare and review financial statements, and maintain accurate general ledger records.
• Prepare and review business and individual tax returns, assist with tax planning and compliance, research accounting and tax issues, and support clients through tax season.
• Mentor and supervise junior accounting staff, review work for accuracy and completeness, improve workflows and quality control, and act as the first point of escalation for accounting questions.
• Communicate professionally with clients, resolve accounting issues proactively, manage deadlines across multiple engagements and deliver accurate work with minimal supervision.

Required profile

• 5-7+ years of public accounting or client accounting experience.
• Experience preparing business and/or individual tax returns.
• Ability to manage multiple clients at once, excellent attention to detail, strong organization and time management, and excellent written and spoken English.
• Preferred: CPA or CPA candidate, experience in a U.S. CPA firm, and experience managing remote teams.
