US Accountant (GAAP Close, SOX, IPO Readiness)

About the role

Aikido, a developer-first security company founded in 2022, is hiring a US Accountant to own day-to-day accounting for its US entity while building a public-company-ready finance function. You will run the US close, keep the books audit-ready under US GAAP and help set up the controls and reporting needed for an IPO.

Key responsibilities

• Run the monthly and quarterly close: journal entries, accruals, prepaids, fixed assets and balance sheet reconciliations
• Account for SaaS subscription revenue under ASC 606, including deferred revenue and contract review with the revenue team
• Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations with the Belgian parent, and support US GAAP to IFRS reporting for group consolidation
• Own US payables and receivables, vendor setup, 1099 reporting and sales tax filings, working with outside advisors
• Document processes and run internal controls as the company moves toward SOX compliance
• Prepare schedules and respond to requests for the annual audit and quarterly reviews
• Help roll out the new ERP and automate manual steps in the close
• Support FP&A with clean actuals and variance explanations

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 2-5 years of accounting experience, split across Big 4 audit and/or in-house roles
• Public company experience: SEC registrant in-house, or auditing SEC registrants
• Experience in tech or SaaS, including subscription revenue under ASC 606
• Clear written communication, working daily with a team in Belgium

Required skills

• Solid US GAAP knowledge and hands-on month-end close experience
• Working knowledge of SOX controls and documentation
• Strong Excel skills and comfort working in an ERP
• Nice to have: CPA or working toward it, IPO readiness or first-year SOX experience, multi-entity accounting with a foreign parent, IFRS exposure, ERP implementation experience (e.g. NetSuite) and billing tools such as Stripe
