Unit Secretary – ICU (Full‑time Days)

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Unit Secretary to support the OLGMC ICU. The role involves handling admissions, discharges and transfers, providing clerical assistance and serving as a Patient Experience Ambassador on a full‑time day shift (8 a.m.–8 p.m.).

Key responsibilities

• Process reservations, manage phone lines and respond to patient, family and staff requests promptly.
• Provide clerical support for the unit, including data entry and record retrieval.
• Serve as Patient Experience Ambassador, ensuring respectful communication and privacy.
• Review EPIC chart reports to verify accurate unit charges.
• Adapt interactions to the specific patient population and follow hospital policies.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment and manage time effectively.
• Understanding of medical terminology.

Required skills

• Data entry and information retrieval.
• Proficiency with Windows‑style applications and standard software packages.
• Familiarity with EPIC electronic health record system.
