UN Internship – Emerging Issues & Trends in Development

About the role

This internship is based in the Emerging Issues and Trends in Development Section of the Division for Inclusive Social Development at the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs. The role supports research, analysis, and drafting activities that feed into the World Social Report and other UN initiatives on poverty eradication, inequality reduction, and social inclusion.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct literature reviews on relevant social development topics.
• Draft analytical inputs, syntheses, and background documents.
• Assist with data collection, analysis, and visualization.
• Support the organization of meetings and events, including preparing notes and summaries.
• Perform other related tasks as required by the supervising officer.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or recently completed a graduate or final‑year undergraduate program.
• Strong research background with good analytical and drafting abilities.
• Demonstrated interest in United Nations work and commitment to its Charter principles.
• Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
