Trial Attorney – Global Trade & Commerce Enforcement

About the role

The National Fraud Enforcement Division seeks experienced attorneys for permanent Trial Attorney positions in the Global Trade & Commerce Enforcement Section. Attorneys will investigate and prosecute complex trade, customs, and forced‑labor fraud cases and lead litigation in U.S. District Courts.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct all phases of investigations and prosecutions, including grand‑jury practice, evidence collection, and trial litigation.
• Partner with Assistant U.S. Attorneys and federal law‑enforcement agencies to develop and manage complex trade‑fraud cases.
• Provide legal advice on federal trade, customs, external‑revenue, and forced‑labor statutes.
• Lead the cross‑agency Trade Fraud Task Force and advise internal and external partners on strategy.

Required profile

• U.S. citizen or national, eligible for a security investigation.
• J.D. and active bar membership in good standing.
• For GS‑14: at least 2.5 years post‑J.D. experience with specialized GS‑13‑level duties.
• For GS‑15: at least 4 years post‑J.D. experience with specialized GS‑14‑level duties.

Required skills

• Legal analysis and drafting of pleadings, briefs, and motions.
• Experience litigating in federal or state courts, including trial and appellate work.
• Knowledge of trade, customs, and forced‑labor regulations.
• Ability to coordinate investigations with agencies such as CBP and HSI.
