Traveling Superintendent - Self Perform Concrete

About the role

The Traveling Superintendent will lead Self‑Perform Operations (SPO) for concrete work on projects based in Monroe, LA. This position requires extensive travel (80‑90%) to oversee multiple sites, ensuring safety, schedule adherence, quality, and productivity.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, forecast, and coordinate SPO staff, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Sequence work to meet project schedules and integrate SPO activities with the overall project plan.
• Establish weekly production targets with foremen and track results.
• Manage logistics, delivery, quality control, and staffing levels for assigned trades.
• Resolve on‑site issues related to procedures, design clarifications, labor, and equipment.
• Develop and enforce a SPO safety plan compliant with Turner standards and applicable regulations.
• Supervise and develop forepersons, contributing to performance appraisals.
• Handle monthly estimates, payroll, material invoices, and subcontractor payment applications.
• Oversee accurate take‑offs, material procurement, and contract compliance.
• Participate in bidding, constructability reviews, and apply lean construction methods such as the Last Planner System.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program.
• Minimum 4 years of superintendent experience in the construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of building construction, means and methods, scheduling, cost control, and contract documents.
• Understanding of lean principles and ability to apply them on‑site.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, and project schedules.

Required skills

• MS Office proficiency.
• Experience with Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) applications.
• Application of lean construction principles.
• Use of the Last Planner System (LPS) for production planning.
