Transportation Manager

About the role

The Transportation Manager is responsible for building strong relationships with drivers and ensuring efficient load planning across the network. This role works closely with logistics managers and multiple internal departments to meet both driver needs and customer service expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain driver relationships by addressing home time, payroll, equipment issues, and compliance concerns.
• Collaborate with Dedicated and Associate Logistics Managers to optimize driver loads based on origin, destination, freight type, mileage, and driver availability.
• Align with customer service expectations and initiatives to enhance value for customers and Werner.
• Interface with billing, vans, customer service, risk, safety, payroll, fuel, maintenance, and external vendors.
• Work with Dedicated Logistics Manager or Operations Manager to maintain a full roster of drivers.
• Adhere to scheduled shift attendance and perform additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Transportation/Logistics or related field (preferred).
• 2‑3 years of fleet management or transportation experience in the truckload industry.
• 6 months to 1 year of supervisory experience (preferred).
• Strong organizational abilities and proven management capability.
• Ability to operate computer terminals and satellite communications systems.
