Traffic Control Trainee – Utility Work Zones

About the role
The Traffic Control Trainee works under an experienced technician to direct traffic safely around utility construction work zones. This entry‑level position is union‑affiliated and requires flexibility to meet seasonal demand.
Key responsibilities
- Assist with set‑up and tear‑down of work zone equipment and signage.
- Drive company trucks, keep equipment organized, and maintain safe, well‑managed work zones.
- Provide clear directions to motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists while protecting public safety.
Required profile
- Valid driver’s license with at least three years clean record.
- Current IBEW membership (trainee classification) and willingness to obtain union enrollment.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and handle physically demanding tasks.
Required skills
- ATSSA Flagger Certification.
- First Aid/CPR Certification.
- Understanding of traffic signals, signs, and work‑zone plans.
