Traffic Control Associate – Fremont

About the role

City Rise Traffic is seeking a Traffic Control Associate to manage traffic around active work zones for road construction and utility projects in Fremont. You will use hand signals, paddles and equipment to ensure safe flow of vehicles, pedestrians and workers.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate traffic flow using signals, signs and traffic plans while maintaining strict safety focus.
• Set up, maintain and tear down work‑zone equipment such as barricades, cones and vehicle placements.
• Communicate with customers, the public and crew members via two‑way radios or hand signals.
• Drive company trucks and keep equipment organized and in working order.
• Follow state, federal and company regulations for safe work‑zone management.

Required profile

• Valid California driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• At least high school diploma; 2 + years of similar experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently, handle stressful situations and provide excellent customer service.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lb, stand/walk for long periods and work in various weather conditions.

Required skills

• ATSSA Flagging certification (company can certify in‑house).
• Basic computer skills.
• Knowledge of Caltrans MUTCD and ability to read traffic control plans (preferred).
