Trademark Associate – Junior to Midlevel (NY or Seattle)

About the role

Davis Wright Tremaine LLP is looking for a junior to mid‑level associate to join its Trademark group within the Intellectual Property practice. The role supports a high‑volume trademark practice that advises leading technology, media, and consumer brands on protecting and enforcing their IP assets.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct U.S. trademark clearance searches and preliminary multinational searches, analyze results, and draft search opinions.
• Manage domestic and international trademark prosecution, including preparing and responding to Office Actions.
• Support enforcement matters such as cease‑and‑desist letters, investigations, and strategy development.
• Assist with TTAB proceedings, including drafting discovery requests, reviewing responses, and preparing motions.
• Advise clients on portfolio strategy, brand protection, and related IP issues.
• Coordinate with foreign counsel on international filings and portfolio management.
• Participate in UDRP proceedings, drafting complaints, answers, and appendices.
• Help prepare trademark and copyright licenses, assignments, and due‑diligence materials for corporate transactions.

Required profile

• 2‑5 years of experience in trademark law at a law firm.
• Experience with U.S. and multinational trademark clearance, prosecution, TTAB matters, and IP due‑diligence.
• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical abilities.
• Excellent organizational and project‑management skills.
• Admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction (or eligibility to waive in).
• J.D. from an accredited law school.
