Tool and Die Technician

About the role

The Tool and Die Technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and improving tooling and dies used in manufacturing. This role ensures equipment operates safely, efficiently, and meets quality standards while supporting production teams across shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in installations, start‑up assistance, and die modifications.
• Design and fabricate small fixtures for equipment.
• Identify and implement efficiency improvements and quality standards.
• Assist QA in corrective actions for customer rejections.
• Communicate die status updates with other shifts, operators, and technicians.
• Interpret blueprints, schematics, and drawings to maintain dies.
• Perform preventive, predictive, project, and reactive maintenance.
• Adjust predictive maintenance schedules based on lessons learned.
• Troubleshoot die issues using root‑cause analysis (5‑why) and execute timely repairs.
• Document repairs, update service records, and enter data into the maintenance management system.
• Ensure availability of essential spare parts.
• Develop and implement process improvements for performance and reliability.
• Train newly assigned team members on equipment maintenance and safety procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree preferred.
• Experience with tool and die maintenance and repair.
• Ability to pass pre‑employment background check, physical exam, and drug screening.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Good written and verbal communication, strong visual assessment, basic math, and reasoning abilities.
• Knowledge of OSHA requirements, including Electrical Safety, Machine Guarding, Confined Space, and Lockout/Tagout procedures.
• Experience operating a forklift.
