Tire Mechanic – Class 8 Fleet Vehicles

About the role

RLC is seeking a Tire Mechanic to join its Matteson, IL service center. You will work full‑time, Monday‑Friday on various shifts, maintaining and repairing tires on Class 8 tractor‑trailer fleets.

Key responsibilities

• Mount, dismount, and repair truck and car tires on Class 8 vehicles.
• Operate truck balancers and 1‑inch air wrenches.
• Identify tire types (retread vs. new) and correct fasteners.
• Perform service calls on the road using a service truck.
• Maintain a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and follow out‑of‑service criteria.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year of commercial tire experience.
• Ability to lift up to 125 lb and stand on concrete for extended periods.
• Current operator’s license and clean driving record.
• Basic knowledge of DOT tire regulations.

Required skills

• Mounting and dismounting truck and car tires.
• Operating truck balancers and air wrenches.
• Identifying wheel types, fasteners, and retread vs. new tires.
• Using basic hand tools to repair tires to company standards.
