Terminal Manager

About the role

The Terminal Manager will oversee all operations at R+L Carriers’ Baltimore service center, ensuring efficient, safe, and profitable freight handling. This full‑time position reports to the Regional Director and works closely with account managers and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Manage financial performance, including revenue targets, cost control, and yield improvement.
• Direct personnel actions such as hiring, promotions, transfers, and disciplinary measures.
• Lead, train, and develop employees to meet productivity and service goals.
• Assist account managers with customer acquisition and retention.
• Develop and execute action plans to achieve operational targets.
• Maintain safety, security, and loss‑prevention programs in line with OSHA, DOT, and company policies.
• Ensure clean and safe facility conditions and proper equipment maintenance.
• Prepare and submit financial and operational reports as required.
• Interpret and enforce service‑center work instructions and company policies.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in a fast‑paced logistics environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Thorough knowledge of LTL industry practices, DOT regulations, OSHA laws, hazardous‑materials rules, NMFC and tariff rules.
• Strong organizational, logistical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Familiarity with the Baltimore area and surrounding regions.
