Automotive Technician for USPS Fleet

About the role
The Automotive Technician will perform routine and complex repairs and maintenance on all types of motor vehicles in the United States Postal Service fleet. You will diagnose vehicle issues, conduct inspections, and ensure the fleet remains operational and safe.
Key responsibilities
- Diagnose vehicles and perform operational checks on engines, major supporting systems, parts and components.
- Conduct computerized and electronic diagnostic tests using specialized equipment.
- Prepare and update vehicle records, annotate labor time, and manage work orders.
- Perform visual and auditory vehicle inspections, road calls and road tests.
Required profile
- Minimum 2 years professional automotive mechanic experience.
- Valid State Driver's License and High School Diploma/GED.
- Willingness to complete a hands‑on automotive skills assessment and the USPS Federal online application.
Required skills
- Repair engines, brakes, steering, suspension, transmissions and electrical systems.
- Use computerized diagnostic equipment.
- Maintain repair records and follow all safety procedures.
